The Teeyan Festival, also known as Teej, is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich festivals celebrated across Punjab, including the lively city of Bathinda. This beautiful festival marks the arrival of the monsoon season and is dedicated especially to women, celebrating joy, togetherness, and traditional heritage. Teeyan is often called the festival of women, where daughters, sisters, and mothers come together to rejoice in the refreshing rains of the Sawan month (July–August). Traditionally, married women visit their parental homes during this time, strengthening family bonds and reliving childhood memories.
The festival holds deep emotional and cultural importance as it symbolizes happiness, prosperity, and the beauty of relationships. Women dress in colorful Punjabi attire, adorned with phulkari dupattas, bangles, and mehndi (henna), reflecting the rich traditions of Punjab.
